Our Solar Accreditations

MCS Approved

Sustain are approved under the Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS) which is a mark of quality that demonstrates compliance to industry standards. MCS shows consumers that companies are appropriately qualified and are able to consistently install specific renewable technologies to a high standard.

The Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS) is a quality assurance scheme, that is internationally recognised and supported by the Department of Energy and Climate Change. MCS acts as a central body to certify microgeneration technologies used to produce electricity and heat from renewable sources. They also manage the registration of installers and their competence to ensure the completion of high quality and safe installations.

For our clients to achieve the benefits of the feed in tariff scheme, the installer must be MCS approved and sign off the installation following completion. As such, it is essential that an MCS approved organisation is used for the installation of solar PV.

It is fundamentally important that any generation technology, whether it’s for electricity or heat is specified, installed and maintained. The MCS scheme is ultimately in place to ensure consumers and businesses know what to look out for to guarantee a professional experience.

Accurate Solar PV Information

Accurate Information

As a MCS approved organisation, Sustain will provide accurate information and give you the freedom to understand what it is you are buying. We go above and beyond the standard MCS requirements to ensure your expectations are met appropriately.

You should be acutely aware of the extent to which the technology(ies) you are considering are capable of delivering on your objectives. Sustain offer clear guidance regarding the likely performance of the system and what the potential financial returns are likely to be.

Insurance & Warranties

Insurance and warranties are important and as such, Sustain follows the Deposit and Workmanship Warranty Insurance Scheme that was specifically introduced to protect deposits for installations. The workmanship guarantee will be provided on completion.

Energy Performance Certificate (EPC)

The energy performance certificate is not an MCS requirement but Sustain offer this as part of the process for your installation because it is required when applying for Feed-in Tariffs. See more on EPC assessments.

Renewable Energy Consumer Code (RECC)

The Renewable Energy Consumer Code was set up by the Renewable Energy Association with the intention of delivering higher quality customer experiences for those wishing to buy energy generation systems for their home.

As a member of the RECC Sustain has agreed to abide by the high standards as set out in the Consumer Code, which is backed by the Trading Standards Institute as part of its self-regulation initiative.

To become MCS certificated, Sustain must be members of RECC or an equivalent scheme that delivers high quality customer standards.

The RECC code is extensive and there is a very comprehensive guide for consumers to help them with the service standards required for renewable technologies.

NICEIC Domestic Installer

As an NICEIC Domestic Installer, Sustain have been approved for relevant electrical installation work in accordance with Part P of the Building Regulations.

As something we use everyday, it’s easy to take electricity for granted, but it is crucially important that the electrical part of the solar PV installation is compliant with appropriate standards. Using an unqualified electrician or doing any electrical work yourself is not a good idea.

With electricians registered through a government-approved scheme, such as the NICEIC Domestic Installer scheme, Sustain can carry out electrical work required for the solar PV installation. After completion, an electrical safety certificate and a Compliance Certificate will be provided to confirm it meets the requirements of the Building Regulations.
